Position Overview

The Director of Sales will lead all sales efforts, drive revenue growth, and expand Missile Baits’ presence in retail, distribution, and e-commerce channels. This role requires a deep understanding of the bass fishing market, strong connections within the fishing tackle industry, and the leadership skills to manage a growing sales team and network of partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy aligned with company goals.
  • Manage and grow relationships with national and independent retailers (e.g., Bass Pro Shops, Tackle Warehouse, Academy Sports, independent bait shops).
  • Oversee and optimize distributor relationships (e.g., Pitman Creek, Big Rock Sports).
  • Collaborate with marketing to align sales efforts with campaigns, product launches, and promotions.
  • Identify and pursue new market opportunities—domestic and international.
  • Lead, mentor, and build a high-performing sales team.
  • Monitor sales metrics and KPIs to track progress and report to executive leadership.
  • Represent Missile Baits at key industry events, trade shows, and tournaments.
  • Coordinate with product development to provide market feedback and help shape new offerings.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in sales leadership, preferably in the fishing, outdoor, or sporting goods industry.
  • Strong understanding of the bass fishing market, including tournament scene, retail landscape, and angler behavior.
  • Proven track record of driving revenue and building strategic partnerships.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed (trade shows, client visits, tournaments).
  • Passion for fishing and a deep appreciation for the angling lifestyle is a must.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Existing network within the fishing tackle industry.
  • Experience with sales tools and CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce).
  • Background in e-commerce sales strategy (Amazon, DTC platforms).
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience).
