Bryan Schmitt Wins B.A.S.S. Elite Series on Lake Champlain with Missile Baits Magic Worm

August 17, 2026 - Bryan Schmitt added another major victory to his career with an impressive win at the B.A.S.S. Elite Series event on Lake Champlain, relying heavily on the Missile Baits Magic Worm to catch the majority of the bass that carried him to the win.

Lake Champlain is known for producing both quality largemouth and smallmouth bass and for forcing anglers to make adjustments throughout a multi-day tournament. Schmitt proved up to the challenge, putting together four consistent days of fishing and leaning on a drop shot presentation he trusted when every bite mattered.

At the center of Schmitt’s winning approach was the Missile Baits Magic Worm. The finesse worm made in collaboration with Roboworm, accounted for the majority of the bass Schmitt brought to the scales during the event. The bait advantage gave him the consistency needed to stay near the top of the leaderboard and ultimately close out the victory.

“This is exactly the kind of situation the Magic Worm was designed for,” said Schmitt. “When you’re fishing an Elite Series event and every bite can be the difference between winning or not, you need a bait you have complete confidence in. The Magic Worm produced for me all week, and it was a huge part of getting this win.”

Schmitt wasn’t the only Missile Baits pro to make a strong showing at Lake Champlain. Caleb Sumrall finished fourth, putting another Missile Baits angler near the top of the Elite Series leaderboard. Sumrall relied on the Missile Baits Mini Flip paired with a D Bomb as a trailer to generate key bites throughout the tournament. His fourth-place finish, combined with Schmitt’s victory, showcased the versatility of the Missile Baits lineup, with finesse and power-fishing presentations both producing at the highest level of competition.

For Missile Baits, seeing the Magic Worm, Mini Flip and D Bomb play significant roles in two Top 5 finishes reinforces the company's focus on developing tournament-proven products built to perform at the highest level of competitive bass fishing.

“Bryan is one of the most talented and methodical anglers on tour, and watching him win on Lake Champlain with the Magic Worm was awesome,” said John Crews, Missile Baits owner and B.A.S.S. Elite Series pro. “Then to have Caleb finish fourth using the Mini Flip and D Bomb makes it an even bigger tournament for Missile Baits. These are the moments we design baits for. When our anglers are competing for Elite Series trophies and trusting Missile Baits to put fish in the boat, that says everything about the products.”

Schmitt’s Lake Champlain victory adds another major tournament win to his résumé, while Sumrall’s fourth-place performance gives Missile Baits two anglers inside the Top 5 at one of the most competitive stages in professional bass fishing. For anglers looking to put the same baits to work on their home waters, the Missile Baits Magic Worm, Mini Flip and D Bomb offer tournament-proven options for everything from finesse presentations to heavy-cover power fishing.
